A battery is a component, not a power supply. Rated capacity is measured at a stated discharge rate and temperature (shown below where the manufacturer publishes it). Real usable energy is lower and depends on the depth of discharge you run the pack to, the load, the temperature and the inverter it feeds. This index publishes rated figures only and derives no single "real usable watt-hours" number. On its own a bare
battery has no inverter, no charge controller and no AC outlet: it stores energy for a system you
build around it, and its safe charge and discharge limits (in the specifications below) are part of
that system design.

This is Dakota Lithium's 12V 100Ah deep-cycle lithium iron phosphate battery, now sold only in its heated form. It is rated 100 Ah and 1,280 Wh at a 12.8 V nominal, in a Group 24 case weighing 12.5 kg. Discharge is 100 A continuous with a 200 A surge rated for 10 seconds, and charging is capped at 50 A. Its distinguishing feature is Dakota's internal heating element: when the battery is charged below 0 C, the element warms the cells to about 5 C first, which is what lets a LiFePO4 pack accept charge in freezing conditions at all. Dakota backs it with an 11-year warranty, the longest of any battery indexed here. Two things this record deliberately does not state. Dakota publishes no cycle count tied to a depth of discharge, so no cycle-life figure is recorded even though a 5,000-cycle claim appears on the page. And Dakota publishes a single combined operating-temperature range rather than separate charge and discharge windows, so neither is recorded: on a heated battery the charge window is the entire point, and splitting one figure into two would invent a distinction the manufacturer never made.
Variant note: Dakota Lithium's 12V 100Ah deep-cycle battery as currently sold, which is the HEATED version (page title: 'Dakota Lithium 12V 100Ah Deep Cycle Heated LiFePO4 Battery'). Dakota appears to have consolidated the line: a sweep of their 12 V category found only this 100 Ah deep-cycle handle plus a CAN Bus sibling, with no non-heated 100 Ah still listed. This matters because the widely circulated older Dakota 100 Ah specification (about 31.9 lb, Group 27, 2,000 cycles) belongs to a different, discontinued product and is still shown on many third-party pages. Do not merge the two.
Data note: All figures taken from Dakota Lithium's official product page on 2026-08-15 (SKU PID12V100AhG24B). Weight and dimensions are published in metric directly ('Weight: 27.55 lbs (12.5Kg)'; '10.23in L x 6.60in W x 8.66in H (260mm x 169mm x 215mm)'), so neither is a conversion. cycleLifeCycles and cycleLifeDoDPercent are BOTH null on purpose: Dakota's claim is 'Up to 80% capacity for 5,000 cycles in recommended conditions', where 80% is end-of-life capacity retention rather than depth of discharge. Reading that as '5,000 cycles at 80% DoD' would fabricate a rating the manufacturer does not make. chargeTempRangeC and dischargeTempRangeC are both null because Dakota publishes only one combined figure ('Operating temperature: -4F to 140F (-20C to 60C) optimal operating temps'); splitting it would invent a charge-versus-discharge distinction the source never draws, which matters more here than usual because this is a heated battery. bmsRatingA is null: the BMS is described qualitatively (cell balancing, low and high voltage cutoff, short circuit, high temperature) with no current figure. terminalTorque is stored in the published unit only ('Max torque 15 ft. lbs.'); no newton-metre equivalent is published. maxInSeries and maxInParallel are null: the page says only that 12 V batteries 'can be used in series for up to 48V systems', and deriving a count from that phrase would be arithmetic on marketing copy. The product was listed out of stock on the official store when checked; that is an availability observation, not a release status, so releaseStatus remains current and the merchant availability is left unknown rather than recording a value that goes stale.
