This category covers rechargeable batteries sold on their own: 12V, 24V and 48V LiFePO4 blocks and lead-acid (AGM, gel, flooded) deep-cycle batteries, one entity per officially named model. The distinction from a battery power station is what ships in the box, and it changes what can honestly be said about the product. A power station bundles a battery, an inverter and a set of outlets in one case, so it can be described in terms of the appliances it runs and for how long. A bare battery ships none of that: it stores energy for a system the owner designs around it, so the honest figures are its capacity, its charge and discharge envelope, its cycle life and its temperature limits, never a runtime for an appliance it cannot power on its own. Several anti-hype rules are enforced by the schema. Peak or surge discharge current is always recorded with the number of seconds it is rated for and is never collapsed into the continuous rating, the same way the generator category refuses to merge starting watts with running watts. Cycle life is meaningless without its depth-of-discharge basis, so a cycle count is only stored alongside the DoD percentage it was quoted at. And rated energy in watt-hours, when a manufacturer states it, must agree with capacity in amp-hours times the nominal voltage, so a mistyped figure cannot ship. Deep-cycle batteries sit beside solar panels, RV solar kits, battery power stations and generators as the storage layer of the same decision: the part that holds energy, for people who are building or expanding a system rather than buying a finished appliance.
