brand: Renogy family: Core capacity: 12V 300 Ah confidence: high updated: Aug 15, 2026

A battery is a component, not a power supply. Rated capacity is measured at a stated discharge rate and temperature (shown below where the manufacturer publishes it). Real usable energy is lower and depends on the depth of discharge you run the pack to, the load, the temperature and the inverter it feeds. This index publishes rated figures only and derives no single "real usable watt-hours" number. On its own a bare battery has no inverter, no charge controller and no AC outlet: it stores energy for a system you build around it, and its safe charge and discharge limits (in the specifications below) are part of that system design.

Overview

This is Renogy's Core Series 12V 300Ah lithium iron phosphate battery, the largest single battery indexed here and the self-heating member of the Core line. It is rated 300 Ah at 0.5C and 25 C, at a 12.8 V nominal, in a 27.5 kg case. Its 200 A battery management system holds continuous charge and discharge to 200 A each and allows a 390 A surge for 5 seconds, and Renogy rates it for 5,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. A self-heating function lets it accept charge down to -20 C, where a non-heated LiFePO4 pack must refuse charge below freezing. It is IP65 rated with M8 terminals torqued to 10 to 12 N m, expands to 4S4P, and carries a 5-year prorated material and workmanship warranty. Renogy publishes no watt-hour figure for a single battery, only bank totals in the manual's wiring diagrams, so no energy rating is recorded here.

Variant note: Core Series 12V 300Ah self-heating (SKU RBT12300LFPSH-US). This is the ONLY Core Series 300Ah on Renogy's US site: a sweep of the 300 Ah listings found just this SKU and the Core Mini 300Ah with low-temperature protection (RBT12300LFP-M-US), which is a different family and case. Distinct also from the 12 V Core 50Ah, 100Ah Core Mini and 200Ah Bluetooth Core indexed here, and from the 24 V Core LT.

Data note: Figures taken from Renogy's official user manual (VERSION B0, dated 2024-12-10) and the rendered product spec table on 2026-08-15 (SKU RBT12300LFPSH-US). METHOD NOTE worth reusing: Renogy's on-page spec tab is JS-hydrated and EMPTY in raw HTML, so a plain curl fetch returns a false 'unpublished' verdict on nearly every field. The manual PDF is the reliable source for this brand's larger batteries. capacityWh is null: Renogy states no single-battery energy figure anywhere; the manual's wiring diagrams give bank totals only (for example a 2P bank at 600 Ah and 7,680 Wh), and dividing that down would be computation rather than a sourced claim. usableDoDPercent is null: a 100% DoD claim appears only in introductory marketing prose, while the rated cycle life is quoted at 80% DoD, the same treatment applied to the other records here. bciGroupSize is null: the manual claims the battery has a 'standard Battery Council International (BCI) group size' but never names it, and inferring one from the case dimensions would be a guess. bmsRatingA of 200 A comes from FAQ prose rather than a spec row, which is why it is the softest field in the record. TWO CONFLICTS PRESERVED, not resolved: (1) self-heating element power is given as 90 W in the manual and 200 W on the product page, likely a hardware revision since the manual is VERSION B0; selfHeating is recorded true and both figures are cited here rather than either being published as the value. (2) the parallel limit is given as 4S4P in the spec row and FAQ, while a manual wiring diagram shows an 8-battery parallel bank at 2,400 Ah; maxInParallel records the spec-row value of 4 and the diagram is noted here.

Specifications

Chemistry, nominal voltage, rated capacity and weight come from official manufacturer sources; the exact claims and links are in the provenance table. Peak (surge) discharge is always shown with the seconds it is rated for and is never presented as the continuous rating, and any cycle-life figure is shown with the depth of discharge it is quoted at. Figures the manufacturer does not publish are left blank rather than estimated.

Use cases

  • Large 12 V house banks where one 300 Ah battery replaces three 100 Ah units and their interconnects
  • Cold-climate RV, marine or off-grid installs needing charge acceptance below freezing
  • Systems with a large inverter, where the 200 A continuous discharge supports heavier loads than a 100 Ah pack

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Largest capacity in this index at 300 Ah, in a single case rather than a multi-battery bank
  • 200 A continuous both ways, double the ceiling of the 100 Ah packs here
  • Self-heating allows charging down to -20 C rather than stopping at 0 C
  • 5,000 cycles published with its 80% depth-of-discharge basis and a stated 0.5C, 25 C test condition
  • Published terminal torque, IP65, and a full manual PDF as a source

Weaknesses

  • 27.5 kg in a 522 mm case: a two-person lift needing a purpose-built tray, and no BCI group size is published despite the manual claiming a standard one
  • Renogy publishes no watt-hour figure for a single battery, so no energy rating can be recorded
  • Self-heating element power is contradicted on Renogy's own sources (90 W in the manual, 200 W on the product page)
  • The parallel limit is contradicted too: the spec row says 4S4P while a manual wiring diagram shows an 8-battery parallel bank
  • No charge controller or inverter included: it is a storage component, not a power supply
